Silver Dollar Lake and Murray Lake Trail is a 3.9 mile out and back trail located near Idaho Springs, Colorado that features a lake and is rated as moderate. Starting elevation is 11,232 with an elevation gain of 1,062 feet Half of the trail is above treeline; bring adequate clothing, sunscreen, hat and bug spray. The first 0.6 miles steadily climbs through a forest of fir trees and the occasional creek crossing that opens to an alpine valley for the next one mile before hitting Silver Dollar Lake. This trail is very dog friendly, so keep this in mind if you have a not so friendly dog. Dogs on leash are able to use this trail. Let’s meet at the parking lot right off Guanella Pass road at 8:30, then we can consolidate cars for the short ride up to the upper parking lot. Please bring a mask for the car ride and for lunch after the hike.
