Growing a Progressive Spiritual Community to Build a Just and Loving World

The Care and Feeding of Ministers

September 28, 2025 at 10 am

Rev. David Schwartz

Ministry is a weird job. Some days you're a spiritual leader and teacher, some days you're the executive director of a small nonprofit, and some days you're just trying to dig out your email inbox. What does it look like for a congregation to support their minister while their minister supports the congregation?

Rev. David Schwartz (he/him), has served as lead minister of the UU Church of Boulder since 2021. From 2013-2021, he served in co-ministry with his wife Rev. Teri Schwartz at the First Unitarian Church of Chicago. He also served as minister at Beverly Unitarian Church in Chicago from 2017-2021 and from 2018-2022 as adjunct professor of preaching at Meadville Lombard Theological School. David grew up outside Boston. He did his BA at Tufts and MDiv at Harvard, and before full-time ministry, he spent a decade in corporate HR with Target as a senior consultant in learning and development. He lives with Rev. Teri in Longmont with their two kids, three cats, and one truly enormous dog.
