On the third Sunday of each month, Columbine UU Church “shares the plate” with a non-profit beneficiary. Information about this agency is available in E-blasts and by way of an insert in the Order of Service beginning on the second Sunday of each month. If you are unable to attend the service and would like to contribute, mail or deliver your cash or check to the church. If writing a check make it to Columbine UU Church with the notation, “STP” in the memo line.” Pledge payments will not be shared. The slideshow above shows some of the organizations we have shared our plate with over the years.
The Beneficiary for March is the Colfax Community Network
Walk up the stairs 1587 Kingston Street in Denver and follow the happy noise of children laughing, playing, doing homework, eating dinner, and you will be at Colfax Community Network (CCN), a non-profit organization that provides services and support for families who live in the motels along Colfax Avenue that have become temporary housing for many families severely affected by poverty. Can you imagine being a child and your only play area is a motel room or a parking lot? CCN reaches out to families by providing food and clothing, as well as basic wellness care. They also operate a food and clothing bank, work with individuals in their efforts to secure employment and permanent housing, and help find resources during crises. If you are unable to attend the service on March 19th and would like to contribute, please mail or deliver your check or cash to the church with the notation on it to “Colfax Community Network – STP.”
